NON ROTATIONAL SHEAR OUT SAFETY JOINT

The WELLCARE Model “WC-SOS-AR” Non-rotational Shear-Out Safety Joint is a long stroke shear release which will transmit torque in its closed position. Specifically designed for use between packers in dual and triple completions, and in selective completions using Hydrostatic Single-String Packers, it can be used for any application in which the shear-type safety joint is preferred over a rotational safety joint. When run above the upper packer in a single-string completion, the shear value should be adjusted to compensate for any hydraulic conditions that exist when the string is landed or that will be created by well-treating operations.

- Protected Against Premature Opening – A 26 inch long sealing surface provides a safety factor. If the Shear Screw should be sheared inadvertently during well treating operations, the Safety Joint will maintain its seal for 26 inches of movement between the Top and Bottom Subs.
- Rotationally locked prior to shear-out the upper and lower subs are keyed together prior to shear-out (or after shear-out if the joint is closed) to allow rotation of tubing below.
- Molded Seal – Sizes 2-3/8″, 2-7/8″, and 3-1/2″ utilize a molded seal, allowing repeated movement under pressure, with minimum damage to the seal. The size 6-5/8″ incorporates an O-ring seal, necessitating the avoidance of repeated movement
